Well, I can now report that the chicken is housed and.... wait for it.....(we have for nearly three years now, so I think its only fair that I string it out for you a little....) ....and no, that is not a picture of the chicken house to the right) we are ready to start building!!!!!!!!!! Not sure if the builder is ready though - P is ringing them today to share the good news. Here a picture of the house as we've built it in Google Sketchup (free from the Internet). What d'ya reckon eh? Oh, and here is the chicken acquainting herself with her fancy new fox-proof abode... we've still got to add the window (it is currently secured with wire netting), window box and obligatory mural to pretty it up a little!
We've been shopping for lights for the new house and that has been very interesting, especially when we were trying to do it with L in tow... All those nice shiny lights, in reach of sticky fingers - oh look that one has a butterfly, and this one spins around and that one looks like a ball - NO DON'T KICK IT!!! Aladdin's cave is now out of bounds for Master L we've decided. Luckily one of our very good friends came to our rescue and offered to babysit while we went shopping - phew! We think we've now decided on some lights - of course they had to take energy efficient bulbs and look good at the same time - a challenge which is actually getting easier now that the bulbs are getting even more compact.
Next on the agenda is the kitchen and wardrobes - we were told about a guy in the Blue Mountains who makes kitchens from recycled wood for very good prices - and the quote was a pleasant surprise I must say. We want to finalise this soon, even though it will be months before the actual kitchen is built. That way he'll have plenty of lead time for collecting materials. So we're planning on meeting up next week to nail down the details so to speak...
My younger sister A is getting married on Saturday to her partner of many years. Their kids are going to be flower girls (2) and page boy (1) - very cute. They've hired period costumes from the ABC costume warehouse in Willoughby and the ceremony and reception will be in a garden in St Ives - should be a picturesque gathering. I've volunteered my services to make the cake and decorate and generally help organise it all, so have been rather busy with that the last few days - even too busy to go to work! Luckily I had some leave up my sleeve... I will post some photos soon for your perusal.
